The Older Goddess

Since time immemorial, the older woman has held treasures untold for the younger man. We know this is true. And yet, the media and society at large don’t subscribe to this theory. And so terms like cougar are born which ultimately serve one purpose: to diminish a woman who happens to be past her pert, collagen-happy twenties. It also paints a rather predatory picture of the older woman.

While there are younger men in the world who have fetishised the notion of being with a ‘seasoned lady’, there are many men who don’t see age as a barrier or an issue that needs to be discussed at length and ad nauseum in articles, books, podcasts etc. Do we expend this much oxygen – and column inches – on the older man, younger woman trope. Nope.

When Rupert Murdoch shacks up with Jerry Hall. Or George Clooney weds Amal, it’s simply par for the course. But the moment Kylie starts dating a man 20 years her junior – now we have a sensational news story.

Let’s forget age and focus on energy – youthful energy that’s not predicated on a number. For the discerning young man, it’s this fizzing youthful vitality that’s so attractive – well, that and the fact that as a woman ages, her clitoris grows too… but that’s another blog topic.

So, to the women who wouldn’t dream of being with a man five, ten or even 20 years younger than them… think again. There are treasures to be had if you dare to seek them out. And even though this blog may read like it’s about the delicious play between the younger man and older woman, it’s really about permission.

If you can let go of inhibition, cultural conditioning and more importantly, your expectations of what’s ‘right and wrong’ there’s a world of joy waiting to be discovered. All you need to do is say one little word that transcends age and battles lost with gravity. And that word is – yes.
