Anna Grosman is the founder of Her Confidant, Australia’s only female-led agency offering male companionship for women and couples. We have normalised women spending money on handbags, holidays, skincare, education. But when a woman chooses to invest in intimacy, the discomfort surfaces.

Female desire has historically been managed, monitored, or moralised. A woman wanting pleasure on her own terms disrupts a very old narrative that intimacy must be earned through commitment, sacrifice, or service.

Men have accessed intimacy without it defining their character. The history of male escorts shows that women have long sought this kind of companionship, mostly in silence. When women do the same, it becomes a cultural conversation.

The real controversy is autonomy. And autonomy in women still unsettles certain people. It’s time for women to put their desires first without judgement or shame. And by establishing Her Confidant, an elevated companionship service for women, I believe we’re one step closer to removing the stigma.

While women’s sensual emancipation has come a long way, the availability of sophisticated, women-owned male companion services leaves a lot to be desired.

I did my research and spent weeks looking for agencies that offer women a genuine, elegant approach to sensual and intellectual satisfaction. The results are disappointing at best and obscene at worst. Her Confidant stands out because we offer a personalised service for every woman and every need. I actually see it as sacred work.

It also means I have completed Phoenix Australia’s trauma-informed care course, as does every Companion after his first three successful bookings, and we collaborate with sexologists and therapists when appropriate.

Safety is the foundation.

I am working toward a world where women do not have to justify their desires. Where intimacy is recognised as part of wellbeing.

Where a woman can say, “I chose this experience for myself,” and it is met with the same neutrality as booking a retreat, hiring a personal trainer or a therapist.

I want to dismantle the idea that women must earn pleasure through partnership or suffer in silence if they do not have one.

I want intimacy to be intentional.

If Her Confidant contributes even a small part to normalising female agency in this space, then we are already shifting culture.
